West Sussex Library – How to Borrow Books and Other Items
1. Anyone who lives, works or studies in West Sussex may join by completing a simple application form.
2. The membership ticket, valid while in current use, bears your name and registration number.
3. No item can be issued unless this ticket is produced.
4. You may borrow up to three books or other items at any one time.
5. Each time you borrow a book, a “light” pen “reads” your registration number and then records each book you wish to take out by “reading” the book number. Similarly, when you return your book, the machine will “read” the book number and cancel the loan.
6. The ticket must be kept in a safe place. Treat it with as much care as your driving license or credit card, and always bring it with you when you visit the library. It should only be used by the person named, who is responsible for all books borrowed on it. A charge will be made for the replacement of a lost or damaged book.
7. Provided that books are not required by another reader, they may be renewed for a further period of three weeks by either (a) bringing the books and your borrower’s ticket to the library or (b) telephoning or writing to the library, stating the authors and titles of your books, the date on which the books were due back and quoting the numbers on the bar coded labels. On all correspondence please quote your ticket number and relevant book numbers.
8. Fines are charged on overdue books.
