Thefivemen,however,werenotthefirstpeopletohaveseenthesecreatures calledBigfoot.Longbeforetheirexperience,localNativeAmericanswere certainthataraceofapelikeanimalshadbeenlivingintheneighboring mountain for centuries. Theycalled these creatures Sasquatch.

In1958,workmen,whowerebuildingaroadthroughthejunglesofNorthern California often found huge footprints in the earth around their camp.

Then in1967, Roger Patterson, amanwho was interested infinding Bigfoot wentintotheNorthernCaliforniajungleswithafriend.Whileriding,theywere suddenlythrownofffromtheirhorses.Pattersonsawatallapelikeanimal standingnotfaraway.Hemanagedtoshootsevenrollsoffilmofthehairy creaturebeforetheanimaldisappearedinthehushes.whenPatterson'sfilmwas shown to the public, not many people believed his story.

In anotherincident,RichardBrown,a musicteacherandalsoanexperienced hunterspottedasimilarcreature.Hesawtheanimalclearlythroughthe telescopiclens of hisrifle. Hesaid the creature lookedmore like a human than an animal.
