A nature reserve is an area of land where animals and plants live in peace. In the UK, there are many different types of nature reserves. Each one is different, but they all have one thing in common: they are places where nature can grow and thrive.

The RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds) has over 200 nature reserves all around the country. The Loch Garten Osprey Centre is one of the most popular. It is in the Cairngorms National Park in Scotland. In summer, visitors can see ospreys from the centre. They are big birds with a wingspan of about 1.5 metres.

Fame Islands is another amazing place to visit. It is in Northumberland, in the north of England. Thousands of puffins live on the islands. They are small black and white birds with colourful beaks. In summer, they lay eggs and look after their babies.

If you love seals, go to the Donna Nook Nature Reserve in Lincolnshire. There are more than 2,000 grey seals here. In November and December, you can see baby seals. It’s an unforgettable experience!

Forests are vital to the health of our planet. They provide oxygen, improve air quality, and help regulate the climate. Trees absorb carbon dioxide, which helps reduce the effects of climate change. Moreover, forests are home to a wide variety of wildlife, including birds, insects, and mammals. These ecosystems support biodiversity, which is essential for maintaining balanced natural environments.

In addition to their environmental benefits, forests also play a significant role in human life. They provide resources like timber, fruits, and medicinal plants. Furthermore, forests are important for recreation and tourism, attracting millions of visitors each year. Protecting forests is essential to ensure that future generations can enjoy their benefits. Therefore, it is crucial to support conservation efforts and promote sustainable practices.

Read the text and choose the correct answer.

Climate change is a critical issue facing our planet today. Firstly, it is caused by human activities, such as burning fossil fuels and deforestation. Secondly, these actions lead to an increase in greenhouse gases, which trap heat in the atmosphere. As a result, our planet is getting warmer.

In addition, climate change affects weather patterns around the world. Some regions experience more severe storms, while others face droughts.
