Health experts warn that this winter's outbreak could be as severe as the 1989 epidemic, 28who killed 25,000 people in Britain 29only. WHO has stressed the importance 30in vaccination, and several countries are already taking precautions to ensure that those 31at high-risk categories 32such like diabetics and those with heart or lung complaints, are vaccinated. Nearly all previous strains of flu are known to 33originate in China and the Far East, and whereas in the past, infection spread slowly across the world, in these days of mass air travel, rapid global infection is a great threat. Sweden has reported cases of para-influenza, 34effecting mainly children, and Danish doctors 35had recorded 1,500 cases of flu in the past week.
