Boy: Mum, I really need some new football boots and some new football socks.

Woman: Sorry, but I bought you some new trainers last weekend, I can't afford to buy you football boots as well. You can have the socks if you like.

Boy: All right. I'll get them in town this afternoon.

Woman: Did you enjoy your sister's party?

Man: Yes, but it didn't start well. My car broke down on the way, so I went back home and phoned my friend, but he'd already left.

Woman: Did you stay at home then?

Man: No, I got a taxi and my friend gave me a lift home.

Girl: I think I left my magazine on the bus.

Boy: No, you didn't. I saw it on the kitchen table this morning.

Girl: Yes, but I picked it up and put it in my bag and it isn't there now. I was reading it on the way home.

Boy: Well, I don't think you'll see it again then.

Man: Good afternoon, can I help you?

Woman: Yes, I just ordered this coffee but I'm afraid it's almost cold.

Man: Oh, I'm sorry about that. Let me get you another one.

Woman: Thanks, but the coffee looks a bit too strong for me. Is there any chance of having tea instead?

Man: No problem. Anything else, madam? Would you like a glass of water to go with the hot drink?

Woman: That's OK thanks. I had one with the coffee.

Man: I was thinking of planting some of these flowers out next year, but l've never grown them before.

Woman: Oh, they'll be lovely if you can time everything just right. I made the mistake of planting them out in January, but the ground was too wet

Man: So a little later then?

Woman: Definitely. It says you can start them in February on the packet. Personally, I don't think it's a bad idea to wait until March. The ground will be much drier then.
