Lan: I'm getting worried. My sister's getting married next Thursday and there are still so many things to prepare.

Lisa: Next Thursday. Don't people normally get married on the weekends, so it's easy for their friends and relatives to attend?

Lan: Well, in Vietnam the wedding has two parts. The first part is when the groom's family comes to the bride's home to request that the groom marry the bride. We choose a lucky day and time for this. But the actual wedding is a few days later.

Lisa: I get it. That makes sense now. What happens in the wedding?

Lan: On the wedding day, the groom's family go to the bride's home taking gifts wrapped in red paper. Then the groom's family asks for permission for their son to marry the bride.

Lisa: Then what happens?

Lan: Then the bride is presented, and all the parents give their blessings. The couple give each other wedding rings and receive presents from their parents.

Lisa: Isn't there any kind of a party?

Lan: Yes, there is a party at the groom's home, but these days many families like to have parties at hotels.

Lisa: Tôi hiểu rồi. Điều đó có ý nghĩa ngay bây giờ. Điều gì xảy ra trong đám cưới?

Lan: Vào ngày cưới, nhà trai đến nhà gái lấy quà gói bằng giấy đỏ. Sau đó nhà trai xin phép cho nhà trai được cưới cô dâu.

Lisa: Sau đó điều gì sẽ xảy ra?
