What is the plot or main storyline?

Synths look like humans and can do lots of different jobs. Joe Hawkins decides to buy a synth to help around the house. But the Hawkins family soon realise that there is something strange about their new synth Anita – something not quite right. As the storyline develops, there may be a group of synths who are more than just robots or gadgets.
