Later, a Qing official tested him by asking him to recall what was on the stone palette. Le Quy Don read out loud in Mandarin the whole poem, word for word. After this event, the Chinese gave him a great deal of respect for it.

Lê Quý Đôn, quan Thượng thư bộ Công và Hiệu trưởng Quốc Tử Giám, được ngưỡng mộ vì kiến thức uyên bác và trí nhớ xuất sắc.
